As overall, no, this hack isn't butt, but if you want to play SMB2, I'd suggest you play the original rather than this. While the aesthetics aims for accuracy all the way, I feel like SMW's mechanics ruined what can be defined a masterpiece. I'm talking about the boss battles the sand gimmick (hell I hated it) the "potion doors" some enemies acting weird, like the plants, which are slightly edited hammer bros. The sound was also improved thanks to RunTheCoins. It adds color, lets you play with Luigi (with different physics) and removes the lag. Too bad I can't say the same for the gameplay: yes, the author litterally said that this "remake" is based on SMW mechanics, but it's kind of sad that many things got screwed just because of this. Super Mario Land 2 DX is a color hack for Super Mario Land 2 in the same vein as Link’s Awakening DX. I'm mainly impressed by the graphics, which have been inserted and assembled (almost) flawlessly. I rarely play SMB2, I don't even remember me clearing the original game to be honest, but this hack is pretty much close to it I must say.
